About this Activity
"a ha!" Moments have been designed to inspire students to cultivate what we call an Amazing Hospitality Attitude. They are short motivational videos that further enhances each soft skill allowing them to see the difference they can make by implementing what they have learned in this course. They are a favorite with our AHA World Campus students.
Good to the Core
The Lesson
In Good to the Core, the idea is that character and integrity are not surface-level qualities—they come from within, just like the core of an apple.  What’s at the core eventually shows on the outside. If the inside is strong and genuine, the outside interactions will naturally be positive, authentic, and trustworthy.

Business communication works the same way. Emails, presentations, meetings, and customer conversations are the “outside skin” that others see. But the effectiveness of that communication depends on what’s at the core—honesty, clarity, empathy, and respect. If someone’s core values are weak (dishonesty, disrespect, or self-interest), their communication will eventually reflect that, no matter how polished the words sound.

How does my “core” (my values and integrity) show up in the way I write, speak, or listen at work?

Can I think of a time when someone’s communication felt insincere? What did that reveal about their core values?

How can I strengthen my own core values so that my communication builds trust and respect in my workplace?
