About this Activity
Welcome again to the Soft Skills Pro Demo. Through this demo, you will be able to partially navigate our online community and the Work and Life Essentials course. Students begin each module by clicking the Overview tab. The Overview presents the module objective for each soft skill. Once the objective is clear, students will be asked to answer a question pertaining to the soft skill that they are about to learn about and acquire. Students will also be asked to reflect on how acquiring this soft skill can positively impact their life.
The Hospitality and Tourism Industry
- Define the terms tourism and hospitality and differentiate between the two.
- Explain why the hospitality industry is sometimes referred to as the “Umbrella Industry.”
- Describe the “Spirit of Hospitality” and its role in creating guest satisfaction.
- Explain why most hospitality services are intangible and perishable.
- Analyze how the unique characteristics of hospitality services (intangibility, perishability, inseparability, variability) affect operations and guest experiences.
- Evaluate examples of tourism and hospitality businesses to determine how well they deliver positive guest experiences and propose strategies to strengthen overall guest satisfaction.
